Our baby was due yesterday. On Monday night/early Tuesday, I started having irregular, non-painful, but REAL contractions. Since that was exactly how my last two labors started, I was sure we were going to have a baby on Tuesday. I have been a little nervous about making it to the hospital in time because there were three babies born in our church family in the last month and those moms were there a TOTAL of about an hour before all three babies were born. (One dad wasn't even in the room yet!)
So, I called my parents at 4:30 am on Tuesday morning. I wanted them to come before traffic, just to be safe. They were here by seven. And then everything stopped. And hasn't started again. Nate had a CRAZY week at work, including meeting with the CEO, who was flying in from elsewhere, so we were hoping Baby would wait until tomorrow. However, once I got my parents down here, I was a little more anxious to get things going. Of course they didn't care, but I felt dumb. We had a nice two days, though, and I was thankful to have the help. My dad had to take their car back up to Vancouver today so Morgan and his family can drive it to Bandon tonight. (It's much bigger than theirs, and my parents want them to bring a few things back for them.) It was decided that my kids would go home with my parents, which is a good idea, as long as Baby comes straight away. If not, then comes the decision of when to get them/what to do with them. If Baby isn't going to come soon, then I want to be with my big kids! I'm also a little worried about my parents being exhausted before this baby even comes. So, that's where we currently are.
Though there are always things I could be doing, I really feel more prepared than ever. My amazing friends (and college roommates) came down the first Saturday of the month to spend a day helping me organize, rearrange, get rid of stuff, take down my Christmas tree, and so on. (They'd wanted to do a shower and I said I didn't need one, so they came up with this idea instead. It was by far the BEST gift they could have possibly given me!)
Not only do we now have a playroom (a lot of that work was done before they came), but Cooper's room and the living room have be rearranged and have so much more space than before! And there are fewer toys in the living room, which makes it feel that much bigger.
There you have it. If anyone is still reading, I'll end with a cute story. The other night at dinner, the subject of baby names somehow came up and I said we'd mentioned them to Judson and Cooper a couple of times, but I didn't think Judson remembered what they were (he was always too busy giving his own input). My mom said she thought he did because he'd told them the other day and was very serious about it. In fact, they said, "Are you supposed to be telling us this?" I asked what they were and he had told them Daniel and Lily, which are not the names. I thought it was pretty cute because Daniel is a baby in our Growth Group and Lily is the eighth grader who baby-sits during Growth Group. My mom couldn't believe it; he'd been so serious and convincing. :)
Hopefully my next post is about our new baby!
