We flew to Tampa on Wednesday, March 30. Judson was a terrific traveler! I had a "bag of tricks," which included his first Matchbox cars. They were an absolute hit, and he spent much of our trip with them tightly gripped in his hands (it was reminiscent of the balloons a few months ago). He is officially obsessed, especially with his bus and tractor. :)
Day One in Florida was super dreary - rainy, windy, and gray. It was a lot like being in Oregon, only warmer. Nate and the other guy we were traveling with (his wife and three and a half year old were with him) got a late start heading to the airshow. It was a good thing, however. A tornado actually hit the airshow and did a whole lot of damage. Initial reports said a building had collapsed and seventy people were trapped inside. That wasn't true; I'm not sure if that's how many people had been it and gotten out or what. Bottom line: Nate and Erik drove an hour to get there, only to find out it had been shut down. (Airplanes were flipped upside down and some were bent almost in half. It was really sad. A crew worked all night to put things back together and by the next day, things were in pretty good shape, though a few planes were still upside down.)
Judson and I just hung out in the hotel room since it was so rainy. Thankfully he had his little cars to keep him happy, because he took a lousy nap.
