Twenty Weeks

Before I post about our terrific Easter weekend, I wanted to share our ultrasound video/slideshow.  I can't believe I'm already halfway through this pregnancy!  I need time to slow down; there's lots to do before Baby comes.

I feel really good and am starting to get a belly.  Thankfully, by some miracle, my regular jeans still fit me because maternity jeans do not stay up on me.  (I didn't have these particular jeans last time around; I think they're lower cut.  The nice part is they're higher in the back, so I don't have to worry about my rear end hanging out.)  I'm hoping they'll last until I can break out the summer clothes, if that time ever comes...

My ultrasound was Monday.  Mandy took care of Judson so we wouldn't have to be deal with him.  (He wouldn't have known or cared what was going on anyway.)  Baby didn't do much, so it wasn't as exciting as it was with Judson's ultrasound, but it was still special.  In the first part of the video, the only thing moving is the heart beat.  But there is some movement eventually and something that almost looks like thumb-sucking.

And, no, we did not find out the gender, though Nate did bring it up.  :)

Catch!

As I've previously mentioned, Judson is a big fan of balls.  (As a side note, he calls all footballs "Beaber" because his football has an OSU Beaver on it.  Nate couldn't be happier about it.)  :)  One day, Judson actually held out his arms when I was going to throw a  ball to him.  That was all; he didn't actually try to catch it, but I figured it was a step in the right direction.  Later, I tried to take a picture of him in "catch position," but this is what he kept doing.  It cracked me up.

Throwing the ball is pretty darn cute too.  He looks up, pauses because he's really concentrating, and then throws and hops at the same time.  The ball does usually go forward at this point, unless it's a tiny ball, and then it's about 50/50.

Cousins

Two weeks ago, Anna had a two-day class in Eugene...and I got to take care of Macy.  (Anna spent the nights here and drove back and forth.)  Though Macy hadn't seen much of me lately, she was perfectly happy spending the days with us.  I think Judson was a big part of that.  Those two can't get enough of each other.

Anna wrote out Macy's schedule for me the night they got here.  She went to bed around 8:30 and would sleep until around 9:00 am.  I was skeptical; I thought she'd probably be up earlier than that, since she wasn't at home.  We were both wrong.  She slept until 10:40 the first morning and 10:30 the second morning!  And she didn't even seem fazed that her mom wasn't here.  Then she took naps at the same time Judson did...perfect!  So, honestly, I only took care of her a few hours per day.  :)

Judson and I both really enjoyed our days with Macy, and we look forward to having her family closer once they move up to Vancouver this summer.

I stole this one from Anna's blog.

Macy was doing this new thing where she'd put both arms in the air and flap her hands around to wave.  Judson still does it in his highchair sometimes and says, "Mimi."  It's really cute.

Going in for a kiss.  I know he's closer to the camera., but notice the difference in head size.  It really is that extreme.  :)
Heading south to meet Anna, so she didn't have to drive all the way back to Salem after her class the second day

Crash and Burn

Judson had his first major crash at Logan Nelson's birthday party on Saturday.  It was bound to happen sooner or later.  In fact, there have been numerous close calls on our pavement, but he's surprisingly surefooted and has managed to stay on his feet more often than not.

I don't even know how it happened on Saturday.  I was right there and he was playing with all sorts of fun toys.  Then next thing I knew, I saw his face hit a paver that was edging the lawn.  The skin was scraped off the side of his nose, there was blood, and his mouth was full of dirt.  Once I got him cleaned up, I noticed his head - a big, scraped up goose egg.  He let me put ice on it off and on for a few minutes.  But after about five minutes, he was ready to play again.  No one can accuse him of being a wimp.

I didn't take my camera to the party, so didn't get any pictures until yesterday.  These aren't very good, but you get the idea.  He does look sort of pitiful.

Florida - Day Four (The Conclusion of our Trip)

We decided to go to Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo on our last day in Florida.  It's rated #1 by Parents Magazine, and, again, we could get 50% off with my zoo membership.  Before we went, though, we ate breakfast at The Waffle House and then dropped Nate's co-worker and his family off at their cruise ship.  Oh, my.  I knew those ships were huge, but had never seen one up close before.  Wow.  It was fun to be down there and see all of the excited people, though I was slightly jealous that we had to leave the wonderful weather that night.  :)

Judson fell asleep in the car right before we got to the zoo, but we found a nearby Starbucks and killed some time that way.  We eventually had to wake him up, but, like the rest of the trip, he held up really well despite the lack of sleep.

We really enjoyed ourselves, though it was very hot and poor Judson was awfully red-faced.  It is a great zoo...really nice exhibits (large habitats for the animals), interesting animals, etc.  There were some free rides there including a big carousel, a behind-the-scenes-tram, and I don't know what else.  And there was even a fountain area for little kids to play in, but we didn't get to that (or the rides).

Such a big boy!
A really cute orangutan baby
These monkeys put on quite a show swinging all over the place.
One of my favorite exhibits - the manatees.  They're kind of ugly, but I really liked seeing them in real life.  They were all rescued.  You can see where the first one got hit by a boat's propeller.  (They were eating.  The floating stuff is lettuce.)

Blurry, but so cute!

Looking hot and tired.  We were VERY thankful to have our stroller with us.  Thirty-two pounds of toddler gets heavy really quickly!

Judson loved feeding the giraffe.  Our camera missed the action, however.  :)

I forget what this guy was called.  He reminded me of something out of a Bill Peet book.  If you're a mom of kids over two and don't know about Bill Peet books, I highly recommend them!  They're old, but you should be able to find them at the library.  Such terrific stories!

Petting the goats was about the last thing we had time for.  After that, we headed to the airport to turn in our rental car and eat dinner at Chili's.  It was near our gate and normally priced.  A perfect way to kill some time!  Little did we know, there was a GREAT play area right across from our gate.  Judson got to play there for about twenty minutes and was so funny.  He was laughing, shrieking, and carrying on the whole time.  People actually stopped to watch him.  Please excuse the stained shirt.  We made a mess with ice cream at the zoo.  I did have pajamas to change him into, but figured he'd be cooler on the planes in his current outfit.

Nate almost got stuck while crawling through the tunnel under the slide... :)

We flew out at 8:25 pm and pulled into our driveway at 3:15 am (6:15 Florida time, of course).  Judson slept a little and once again did very well overall.  And then it was back to rain.  Ugh...

Florida - The End of Day Three and Beginning of Day Four

We checked out of the hotel Garmin had put us up in and checked into another one nearby.  (Nate had to make his reservations through a special corporate site and we weren't sure whether we were going to stay in Tampa for the weekend or head elsewhere.  By the time we decided, we had to find a new hotel.)

We spent our last night in Florida at the Best Western Bay Harbor Hotel.  It was great.  We had a gorgeous view and fun balcony.  The pool was beautiful, too, though too cold for me.  :)

There was a large body of water just beyond the fence...

Judson enjoyed his pre-breakfast snack on the balcony.  We got to watch fish jumping and see some really interesting birds, including two brown pelicans fishing.

There's a pelican on the pier closest to the camera.
