Judson's Growth

Judson just had his six month appointment Tuesday. I'm pleased to report that his rate of growth has slowed slightly. We did have to trade car seats with the Andrewjeskis because their infant seat goes to 30 pounds and ours only goes to 22 pounds, but still...

He was a trooper when he got his shots...cried for maybe five seconds. Unfortunately, he did get a fever and feel lousy yesterday. He rarely cries, but yesterday morning he SCREAMED for an hour and a half straight. Once I gave him Infant Tylenol, he improved but still wasn't himself. Thankfully he was fine today.

And just because it's fun to see, here are his measurements and percentiles from his first six months of life:

**I'm very annoyed. I spent quite awhile making a lovely little chart with this information. Unfortunately, it won't publish that way so now I have to redo it. Ugh.

2 weeks
9 lb., 10 oz. (70th%)
22.25 in. (90th%)
(Head) 38.9 cm (80th%)

2 months
15 lb., 11.5 oz. (off the chart {OTC})
24.25 in. (85th% )
42.8 cm (OTC)

4 months
18 lb., 14.5 oz. (OTC)
26.5 in. (90th%)
43.6 cm (85th%)

6 months
21 lb., 3 oz. (95th%)
28 in. (90th%)
46.8 cm (OTC)

I'm hoping to do another post about Judson's newest "tricks" and maybe even how much fun I'm having making baby food, but that will have to wait. We're off to see Nate's mom in Burns this weekend, so I have lots to do to get ready to go...

Tough Decisions

Judson had his six month pictures taken at Sears today. He's just started being able to sit up on his own, so we could finally have some new poses! The pictures turned out so well. It was nearly impossible for me to choose which ones to buy! Good thing I had a $25 gift certificate that Sears gave me a couple of months ago. =)

Another milestone...

It seems like nearly every day Judson is reaching a new milestone. He's getting to be such a big boy these days! Okay, okay, so he's been a BIG boy his whole life, but developmentally he's starting to seem so "big." =)

Last night, just ten days before his half-birthday, we fed Judson his first rice cereal. He's been ready for weeks - watching intently as we eat or drink anything, smacking his lips together, and so on. However, his mama has not been ready for that long. But recently his nighttime sleeping has not been nearly as good as it was a month ago, so I reluctantly decided the time for solids has come. (I was planning to wait for the six month mark, so we practically made it anyway.)

After a big day at the zoo and very little napping yesterday, I was questioning the wisdom of feeding him last night. Grandma Becky was here, though, and really wanted to be involved. I didn't need to worry. Judson LOVED it! He just kept grabbing my hand and/or the spoon and shoving it in his mouth. He swallowed very little, but that was to be expected. At the very end he did get frustrated because he was hungry and wasn't really getting anything in his belly, but all in all, it was a VERY successful first experience. We're hoping he takes after his daddy, who will eat anything set in front of him! (I was super picky until I went off to college, so, though I deserve to have a child like myself, I'd rather not...) =)

Ready and waiting (ignore the unfinished wall behind him...)

Spending time with the Nelsons

Since Jessica Nelson has been on maternity leave, we've seen each other about every other week. It's so much fun to have them living closer now! We met here today, and Krista (Nelson) Cook joined us. It's been fun to hang out with her more often now that she's done with vet school and actually has time! Plus, Logan really loves his Auntie Krista and it's nice to have a 1:1 adult to child ratio. =)

For anyone who doesn't know, my parents and Bob and Dee Nelson bought the ranch together and all moved out from Arizona 33 years ago. And they're still friends! =) So, anyway, the three Nelson "kids" have always been more like our siblings than just friends. We love having kids the same age and we look forward to them growing up together. Here are some pictures from our fun time together today.

Judson loves the Jumperoo we borrowed from Logan!

What a bunch of cuties! Judson (5.5 months), Logan (2 years), and Max (almost 2 months)

I swear Judson's head isn't really as big as Logan's! =)

Jessica feeling just how heavy Judson really is...

For the Love of Reading

I have always loved reading. I have a huge collection of children's books, thanks to all those years of free or VERY cheap book order books when I was teaching. Of course, I'm excited to share that love with Judson. We read books before naps and bedtime and lately I've taken some really cute (if I do say so myself) pictures of him "reading."

Modified "tummy time" since he generally hates being on his stomach

Reading with Grammie

Reading his new Easter book

What a funny book!

There's nothing better than reading with a friend. (I put Maxwell up there with Judson and didn't think he'd stay, but he did...for a few minutes at least.)
