A Weekend at Hood Canal

We met the Arnolds at the "cabin," as my cousin (the owner) calls it, on Hood Canal the first weekend in March.  Judson was BESIDE himself with excitement, as he remembers (and fairly frequently brings up) the fun we had in August.  I reminded him over and over that it's not summer and we wouldn't be swimming in the Canal.  He didn't really believe me, and then we got there and had two AMAZING days and I really looked like a liar.  :)  (We were there Thursday night to Sunday evening.)

The kids did get to wade in the water, and they spent lots of time "swimming" in the hot tub with the daddies.  One of the highlights for me was how well they played together.  Judson and Ephraim were inseparable and we NEVER had to deal with bickering.  HEAVENLY!

We really enjoyed our time in the evenings to just hang out and chat after the kids went to bed, too.  We're so thankful for these long-time friends!

Judson and his "rowing sticks."  My wooden spoons will never be the same...

Both of my kids were very excited about their new ($2.25) sunglasses, as you will soon see.  I was excited they'd leave them on!

HUNDREDS of rocks were thrown over the course of the weekend.  No one was hit too hard.  :)

You can't really tell, but Amy's expecting a baby girl at the beginning of June.

Someone was pretty excited to get her shoes wet.

Waiting patiently for the daddies to be ready to go in the hot tub.

Cooper didn't mind being left out of the hot tub, which really surprised me.  I'm pretty sure she didn't know what she was missing.

We found a baseball field to play ball on (there's no grass at the cabin).  Some of us chose to lounge in the sun.

Saturday: more of the same gorgeous weather

I know I'm posting a lot of her.  She's just so funny these days.

Trying desperately to keep her dry, mostly because I didn't want to get all wet.  That water was COLD!!

Nate got the motor running.  He's convinced the last time it ran was when he worked on it seven(ish) years ago.  It made it about halfway across the Canal before they had to start rowing.  :)

After the boat ride.  It was almost five o'clock and still warm enough to be (un)dressed like this!  Thank you, Jesus!

Judson's prayer tonight

I just put Judson to bed.  Without any prompting this is what he prayed. "God, help me to get a good night's sweep (sleep).  Help Daddy's back to feel better, and help me not to barf anymore.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen."

It's been a month since the last time he threw up, but since there were three "episodes" within a month's time, he's a little gun shy.  At least twice a week, he tells me he needs the red bowl because he thinks he's going to barf.  And though I don't really think he will, I still get the bowl.  I guess he's not the only one who's gun shy.  :)

Soccer

Soccer has been over for a few weeks now.  In fact, it ended a week before it was supposed to, so I missed his last week.  (I had a WONDERFUL(!!) twenty hours with my college roommates.)  Thankfully JuliAnn took this cute picture when the kids got their medals.

Overall, soccer was a great experience for Judson.  He came a long way, but still insisted one of us be out there with him at all times.  (The number of parents out on the floor dwindled each week, but there were a few other kids who still had a parent with them at the end.)  And though he refused to kick the ball during the scrimmages, he really did love it.  :)

Finally.

After nearly eighteen months of having two in (cloth) diapers, there's a light at the end of the tunnel!  Judson is well on his way to being potty trained.  Yay!

He still wasn't showing any interest in it and would put up a fight every time I suggested going potty, so on Monday, I decided not to put any clothes on him after his bath.  I was fairly confident that he wouldn't poop on the floor and was willing to take the risk.  ;)  He didn't and that was that.  He's pooped in the potty every day since then.  (I never thought this would be blog-worthy news, but he's nearly three and a half, for crying out loud. :)  Anyway, peeing is taking longer to figure out, but I think he's starting to get it.

And guess who's most excited about "unnies."  Yep.

Poor girlie has a drool rash all around her mouth.  I think she's about to get the last of her teeth for awhile.  I sure hope that's the reason her naps are lousy and she's waking up BEFORE six o'clock.
