Two (and a half) weeks in...

As usual, time is flying by way too fast.  And my newborn is looking less so every day.  Those darn Moody genes, which create giant children! ;)  I will know just how big Porter is tomorrow, as we have his two week appointment.

After a few nights of one 4 to 4.5 hour chunk of sleep, we're back to a three hour chunk (if I'm lucky) and then more frequent wakings as the night progresses.  Last night was especially bad.  I went to bed way too late (I blame the Olympics) and only got an hour and forty-five minutes straight and a few shorter chunks.  I'm so glad it's Sunday (and church was canceled because of this crazy storm!), so Nate could take Porter and let me get another two hour chunk of sleep.  I'm honestly NOT complaining.  I'm just documenting.  By child number three, I know how fast this will go.  And I LOVE the newborn stage, so I'm trying to enjoy it to the fullest.  (Not that I enjoy being up half the night with a baby who wakes up almost every time I try to lay him down.. :)

Other random things I want to remember about this time:
  • Early on, Cooper would tell us to "Be very shhhhh" when Porter was sleeping.  I really need to get a video of her tip-toeing up to check on him.  It's just about the cutest thing ever.
  • Porter has done some projectile spitting up a few times, but so far is spitting up less than his siblings, I think.  I can't remember exactly when the excessive spitting up started with the other two, but I'm sure it's coming with this one, too.
  • He had his first diaper blow-out this morning, though we had plenty of pee-up-the-back the first week.
  • As of the past few days, he's nursing ALL.THE. TIME.  I am very interested to see what his weight will be tomorrow.
  • This week was my first "flying solo" with all three kids.  Well, for three days anyway.  My kids have been snowed in with my parents since Thursday, but that's another post.  The beginning of the week went surprisingly smoothly.  Both Judson and Cooper were very patient when I had to attend to Porter.  (When Cooper was a baby, I got very good at nursing on the go, so at least I have that going for me.  :)
I may have to come back and edit this list later, because that's all I can think of right now.  I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some things I wanted to mention.

And, now, for pictures from week two...

First real bath

Looking a little unsure, but he was perfectly happy.

Cooper loved helping pour the water over him.

Uncle Justin

While we were getting ready for church last Sunday, Cooper pulled a chair out of the playroom and started "reading" to Porter.  Sweetest thing ever!

Isn't she adorable?!

She had to hold up this (bigger) book with her feet.

First tummy time...only because Judson requested it.  We'd recently looked at pictures from when he and Cooper were babies and talked about tummy time.

These pictures crack me up...I was trying to get a good "two weeks old" one.

Filling out!

Porter and Rosa.  I guess Cooper thought he looked lonely.  :)

    More week one pictures

Before I add pictures from Porter's second week of life, I thought I'd add some more from his first...

    Coming home

Shortly after we brought Porter home...Judson and Cooper loaded him up with all of his "cozies."

The hundred-ish year old "Peanut" basket ready for a BABY.  :)

    Porter's turn

I have a very similar picture of Judson (click here).

Morgan made a quick trip down on my birthday...

Taking a picture of the little picture-taker

First (sponge) bath.  The kids were disappointed.  Cooper thought the whale tub could be turned on and there wasn't nearly enough water for Judson's liking...or for Porter's.  He wasn't a fan.

Much better.  The adorable lamb towel (which is hard to see here) came from our good friend Joani.  We love it!

The first of my monthly comparison shots...

First hair washing, which he slept right through.

Bundled for his first trip to the park...same park we first took Cooper to.  She was six days old, I believe, and he was a week old.

It started drizzling right as we unloaded, so I kept Porter under a tree.  Thankfully it didn't last long, and then the sun came out.

    It's a Boy!!

Porter Michael Moody joined our family (EIGHT looooong days after his due date!) on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:52 am.  He weighed eight pounds even and was 21 inches long.  He's just the sweetest, sleepiest little guy!  Judson and Cooper are excited about him, but are definitely acting out, too.  Change is hard!

Anyway, I will share his birth story later.  It's a good one...filled with God working out lots of details.  But, for now, I will leave you with  a couple of short stories and a lot of pictures.  :)

When Judson walked into the hospital room after Porter was born, he said, "I get to name the next baby we have!  I do NOT like his name."  It sort of cracked me up.  We'd mentioned the name a couple of times, but Judson was always too busy trying to give his input to listen.  When they came back later that afternoon, he walked in and said, "I like Porter's name."  Phew!  :)

Cooper spent the first few days saying, "What that tiny baby's name?" and then she'd proceed to call him Quarter.  Funny kid.  She can say Porter, but still doesn't unless we say it first.  She mostly calls him "that tiny baby" or "our baby."  Her favorite jobs are to get his binky and to take diapers to the garbage can.

My mom is still here (praise God!), so we're doing well.  Porter has been sleeping like a champ, which I'm hoping will continue.

"Thank you" to everyone who has been praying for us!  We feel those prayers and we appreciate them very much!

And now, for what you really came to this blog for...  (I know this is SO MANY pictures.  There are about a hundred others I'd love to share.  This third child will not be undocumented! :)

Pictures from our birth photographer (a friend from church):

Less than two hours after his birth...so happy to have him out after an unmedicated, face-up birth!!

    Pictures from our camera:
Cooper had called our baby a pretend baby the day before and I was starting to agree with her.  It took a lot of convincing on my mom's part for Cooper to believe the baby was actually out.  Once she did, she was ready to go to the hospital immediately and didn't like waiting for everyone else to get ready.  Of course, once they got there, she was quite apprehensive...

    "It's a boy!"

Loving the warming table during his sponge bath

    First outfit

While I took a shower earlier, Nate had gone to the gift shop for the Beaver hat and booties.  :)

    Family of five!

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!  I love this one!

    Birthday snuggles for me :)

Okay, that should tide some family members over for a few days.  Hopefully I'll be back soon with more pictures.  :)
